Glendalough

Rochestown Lodge is the perfect place to start your journey through Ireland’s Ancient East. A 50 minute drive to County Wicklow brings you to Glendalough, a 6th century monastic settlement. It is situated in a beautiful valley which contains many walking trails and also a Visitors Centre where you can learn about the origins and day-to-day life of the settlement.

Wicklow Gaol is an old Irish jail where you can experience the everyday life of the common Irish prisoner most notably during the bleak Famine period of Ireland. Wicklow Gaol is a fantastic day out for the family as the tour is suitable for family members of all ages.

Only a 25 minutes bus or DART journey from Rochestown Lodge to the city centre, the Christ Church Cathedral is a must see.  Built in the 11th century the cathedral is both beautiful in its interior décor as it is fascinating with its medieval crypts which is the earliest surviving structure in the city.

Visit the National Museum of Ireland in the city centre which is only a 25 minute bus or DART journey from DunLaoghaire where we are located. At the museum you can come face-to-face with a 2,000 year old body preserved in the bog and find out possible reasons for being place in there and even find out what was the last meal they ate!

Newgrange

Co. Meath

Newgrange is a Stone Age monument located an hour journey from Dublin in the Boyne Valley in County Meath. Dating back to over 5,000 years ago this structure is even older than the pyramids. This is a must see on your Ancient Ireland do list as it is steeped in Celtic Folklore and legend.
